Mass Arrests as Pro-Palestinian Protesters Disrupt NYC Commute
Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters in New York City were arrested for blocking traffic at the Holland Tunnel and three East River bridges during the Monday morning commute.
A total of 325 arrests were made by the Port Authority and NYPD, with about 120 at the Holland Tunnel entrances. Demonstrations also occurred at the Brooklyn Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and Manhattan Bridge.
NYPD Chief John Chell stated that many protesters would face misdemeanor charges, and the affected routes have since reopened. The Manhattan Bridge’s upper level remained unaffected as protests took place on the lower level.
